Core Values

Rights & Views

Having disabilities and residing in a home can equally act to deprive People of their rights and views as citizens. We, therefore, work to maintain People’s place in society as fully participating and benefitting citizens in the following ways:

  • All People will be entered on the electoral register. Transport and escorts will be available for those People wishing to vote in the election. Postal votes can be arranged and an advocate made available if required.
  • People should not be restricted from leaving the building to walk or make visits and where staff assistance is required this should be available by arrangement with the senior member of staff on duty. It is essential that People should continue to have access to their local surroundings and facilities, e.g. shops, libraries, markets, places of worship etc. Where People are known to be confused, their access to the community should not normally be denied and supervision should be available by arrangement with the senior member of staff on duty.
  • Preserving for People’s full and equal access to all elements of the National Health Service.
  • Helping People to claim all appropriate welfare benefits and social services.
  • People have the right to their opinions and beliefs, as well as the right to express them as appropriate.
